Health, COPD, Pulmonologist Papi: "Specific therapies for forms with eosinophils"

Among patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease "there is a percentage that has, and expresses, an inflammation called T2, identifiable with a simple blood test" due to the presence of a type of white blood cells, "eosinophils, which have different responses to pharmacological treatments". The results of the Matinee trial show that these patients "benefit in reducing exacerbations, once treated with mepolizumab". This is how Alberto Papi, director of the Pneumology Clinic of the University of Ferrara, comments on the results of the study presented at the congress of the American Thoracic Society (Ats) 2025.
